Martha Stewart and wafer biscuits

Chocolate Wafer Biscuits!!!
Whats that?

A chocolate wafer city filled with rum, hazlenut and nougaty goodness... and all I have of evidence is a crappy mobile phone picture. But thats okay. Because I will tell you how to make them. First of all, obtain a lovely Croatian friend to give you the idea in the first place. In this case it was the wonderful Martarina Crnkovic. After you have annoyed them for a while - maybe think of your ingredients.

You will need:
  • 5 sheets of wafer - I am assured you can get this at a deli that sells imported foods - such as wafer boards from croatia.
  • Cooking chocolate - or any chocolate that you no longer want around the house. In our case we went on a rampage and just found anything in the cupboard - such as celebrations, lindt chocolate, dark chocolate, flakes.... go nuts my friends.
  • A bar of honey nougat - we also found this in the cupboard and thought, hey... this could be interesting and indeed it was... yummmm.
  • Many many hazlenuts
  • A tub of nutella.
  • Rummmm - essence or the real stuff, its up to you really.
How to make this monstrous but delicious creation?
  1. Place all the chocolate and nougat into a glass bowl and then put it in a pan full of boiling water and gently stir it every few minutes - not too often, or it will get grainy.
  2. Blend the hazlenuts adding a splash of milk to make it into a paste
  3. Add the hazlenuts and the nutella into a mixing bowl and mix it all in together with as much rum as you want - when the chocolate and nougat has melted, add that too and stir away til you're convinced it looks awesome.
  4. It will look awesome, and you will want to eat it - but fight this urge if you can.
  5. Get your wafter boards and thinly spread the chocolately hazlenut paste over one at a time, and then place them on top of each other. When you're done, put some heavy books on top of it all to compress it down and wait a few hours for it to set.
  6. Once set, cut them with a sharp knife into any shape or form you want - we prefer triangles. Makes them look more wafer-biscuit like.
  7. TRA LA! Biscuits!
Everyone loves wafer biscuits. You know its true. They don't even involve an oven.
Also - it helps to listen to good music while doing this. I suggest some Feist.
